In 2000, The United Nations has proclaimed May 22 the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB) to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. In 2016, the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity focused on Mainstreaming Biodiversity; Sustaining People and their Livelihoods. Biodiversity. It can reflect the responsibility of local community in conserving precious natural heritage for our next generation. Biodiversity is the foundation for life and for the essential services provided by ecosystems. It therefore underpins peoples’ livelihoods and sustainable development in all areas of activity, including economic sectors such as agriculture, forestry, fisheries and tourism, among others. By halting biodiversity loss, we are investing in people, their lives and their well-being.

At the meeting, Dr. Tran Van Mui briefly introduced to the delegation and students about biodiversity conservation, historical – cultural preservation and how to behave with nature, etc.

Then, students took part in dyeing handkerchief activities and the painting competition with the topic: "Hands in hans to protect wild animal in Dong Nai culture and Nature Reserve". It can raise awareness for students of the natural environment and was considered as the most effective way to connect and motivate people in the nature conservation.

The organization board of the competition rewarded the first prize for Huynh Van Nghe high school and Tri An high school.
